Biography Prof. Krzysztof KULPA


Prof Krzysztof S. Kulpa received the M. Sc., Ph.D. and Dr Sc. degrees from Department of Electronic Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) in 1982, 1987 and 2009 respectively. From 1985 to 1988 he worked in Institute of Electronic Fundamentals, WUT. In the years 1988-1990 he was Assistant. Professor at Electrical Department of Technical University of Białystok. In the period 1990-2005 he worked as scientific consultant in WZR RAWAR. Since 1990 he is Associate Professor at Institute of Electronic Systems (WUT). He is now the head of Digital Signal Processing Laboratory, and head of Radar Technology Research Group at WUT. Since 2011 he is the Scientific Director of Defense and Security Research Center of Warsaw University of Technology.

His research interest is digital signal processing area, mainly radar signal processing. In the years 1985-1995 he worked on 2D and 3D maneuvering target tracking. Since 1992 we is working on maritime patrol radar problems, mainly on detection of small sea target using airborne platforms. Since 1998 he is working also on noise and passive radar, and since. 2000 on high resolution synthetic aperture radar imaging. Significant part of his activity was devoted to application problems. The results of his works have been implemented in several radars produced by Polish radar industry. He was involved in creation of the first Polish SAR radar. For long time he is a manager of several scientific-research projects. He published more than 190 papers in international journals and national and international conferences.
Prof. Krzysztof Kulpa is a member of Committee of Electronics and Tele-communication of the Polish Academy of Science and also of IEEE (SM), EUMA and AOC. In 2002 he organize and in the period of 2002-2005 he was a chairperson of the Polish Chapter of IEEE Signal Processing Society. Now he is vice chairman of Jont Chapter AP/AES/MTT Poland Section responsible for AES society. He is also a member of URSI, being from 2012 chair of Poland Section Commission F : Wave Propagation and
Remote Sensing.
He very active worldwide. He had presented several lectures and seminars at International Institutions and Universities in the Europe and USA. He actively participates In the Workgroups of NATO RTO SET panel. In 2010 he was chair of ET gropu071 and since 2012 he is a chair of task group. In 2005 he was Co-director of NATO Advance Study Institute. He is a member of Technical Program Committee of several major international conferences such as International Radar Symposium IRS (co-chairman of IRS-2004, IRS-2006, IRS-2010, IRS-2012), European Synthetic Aperture Radar Conference EUSAR, European Radar Conference EURAD, RADARxx, Fusion, SPS (chairman of SPS 2003, 2005, 2007, 209, 2011), and many others. He is also active in IEEE AES radar panel. In 2008 he was a guest-editor of IET-Radar, Sonar and Navigation Journal, 2010 and 2011 in APPA and JET. Presently he is associate editor of International Journal of Microwave and Wireless Technologies.
